It's a beautiful shot Don, and you probably needed the 800 ISO setting if you used a long telephoto lens.
Generally you'll pick up some Grain / Noise, and removing it will help considerably. If you don't have a RGB control tool in your editor, Pure Image is a small Stand Alone program that does an excellent job of removing Noise and also correct colour shifts etc.

Once again, a lovely deer you have captured here, Don...and on another note, don't know if you got my message or not but I chose your "Spreader" in the b/w challenge and now it's your turn to choose one you like...and in case you're not familiar with how it works, you go to discussion boards on the left then to member initiated projects where you'll find the b/w challenge at the top of the list...click on that then scroll down and go to the second list to find the available entries to choose from then type in the title of your choice and send the artist a PM to let them know...good luck.
