To me this picture is symbolic of life after death. When I first arrived the cemetery the flowers stood out at first glance and the butterflies!! There were so many of them! I am glad some stayed around long enough for me to get them in the picture. After I took this picture I read this: Since early times, the butterfly has symbolized renewed life. The caterpillar signifies life here on earth; the cocoon, death, and the butterfly, the emergence of the dead into a new, beautiful and freer existence. Frequently, the butterfly is seen with the word "Nika", which means victory. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross movingly tells of seeing butterflies drawn all over the walls of the children's dormitories in the World War II concentration camps. Since Elisabeth believes in the innate intuitiveness of children, she concludes that these children knew their fate and were leaving us a message. Many members of the Compassionate Friends embrace the butterfly as a symbol and a sign of hope to them that their children are living in another dimension with greater beauty and freedom which is a comforting thought to many.

I like the angle of this shot - good composition too. The blooming flowers add a feeling of life going on. The musical notes on the grave look like they are floating onto the flowers. This is an image full of life and not death. I like this a lot - terrific job, Karen :))

Randy...now here is a soft sweet side of you(not that I didn't know it was there)...yes, you are so right on about the butterfly. My oldest daughter went thru some very traumatic times lately and she actually was given a gift from her sister of a 'crysalis' not sure of the spelling, but they were enclosed in their cacoon and then she was able to see them emerge into butterflies and then she set them free. It was quite a moment. And gave her courage to move forward with her life. I like the way you took this photo, very caring, very real and the fact that some butterflies remained, it's very beautiful. I am so happy to see the way you composed this and I just love what you wrote...this would make a gorgeous framed photo in reality along with what you wrote next to, or under it...very very nice my dear...Verena

Life is like a grindstone.Whether it grinds us down or polishes us up depends on us.

A very nice shot.
Personally....If it was a bit darker..."Contrasted"...I think it would be....more dramatic.

Interesting shot, good low angle and colour. (I agree with 'Foxfire66' re: contract though).
