What a wonderful architect he was. I know that the cranes don't add much to the architecture, but they doo tell the story of this great masterpiece. Fine shot and you have the exposure just right for me.
"What other reason could there be to get up in the morning except to set ourselves free."
If my comment on your work ever seems to criticise, it does not. It is always so that we may learn together.
Interesting discussion about the cranes... I hesitated to choose: cut or not to cut? That's the question...
I choosed to don't cut. First because it's easier ;-), Second, because this cathedral is maybe the only one in construction in the world...
Thanks for your messages, guys :-)
Gaudi's decadent Art in all it's glory. can't said that I particularly like this style of architecture to be honest ( a bit too twisted for me^^ lol) but this is something you must see. a nice capture Pierre^^
I am glad you decided to post. I've never seen it. Thanks for the link. It's quite an interesting sight and photo Pierre. Only thing that distracts me is that light in the lower left corner. Otherwise I love the rest of the lighting, angle, etc.
BJ: Agree with you for the lower left corner. I had to look at this...
Cain: I don't agree with the word "decadent Art". If you could see it with your own eyes, you should like it. I'll upload some details of houses made by Gaudi: it's really marvelous.
Thanks for the kind words :-)
I didn't mean 'decadent' in a negative way. more in a decadent 'out of control' way... it's like he seemed to have begun something and then didn't know how this would end... which unfortunatly for him, did happen.
I know that if I looked at this 'in real' I would probably stood stunned at the sight. it's the 'Art Nouveau' that I'm not too found of. Gaudi took some of it and of course integrated it in his own style and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. well, for me anyway...
A wonderful shot of a wonderful building... BTW, regarding your first remark, we have a cathederal under construction here in Brisbane too... (nowhere near as grand as this one). They finally got enough funding to finish it off after 150 years or so. Now I will have to get a photo for you...
That is overwhelming. Ive honestly never seen anything so daunting and awe inspiring as this. I decided to do some reading up and found some of his other works. I think Ive found a new interest. Thanks!
Quite the Cathedral and a terrific shot. I'm still not sure the "Never ending" build made much sense but Guadi was nothing if not original - and boy was he that! I had the good fortune of experiencing it with a Prof. of mine who'd made an award winning documentary on it so we got almost complete access to it. You've captured it in all it's modern glory. Nice job.
I am a big fan of Gaudi. In this picture I noticed that the towers have nearly the same support structure as the cranes. Maybe the cranes even compliment the towers. ;-) T
