What a beautiful and refreshing photo this is Pierre. Magnificant composition, lighting, clarity and colors. This swallowtail sure seems to be happy with the nectar he found. Lovely post and thanks for sharing this one. TYU ;)
All the wonders you seek are within yourself. Always glad to see visitors at My Gallery and thanks for your continued kind words and constant support. Anita
Outside of the monarch butterfly, I never knew the name of this specimen either so thanks to Robert from me too...butterflies always make such an enchanting subject, this being no exception, and this ones' choice of location for the photoshoot is equally lovely...all round great composition by both you and your winged client, heheh.:Pat.
Anything that excites me for any reason, I will photograph; not searching for unusual subject matter, but making the commonplace unusual.

Your welcome Pierre. Actually I’m no expert on butterflies but this variety stuck in my mind, probably because they have such a distinctive appearance.
Did you notice that the angle formed by the butterflies wings and the flower stem is repeated in the leaves behind them? Those angles make a beautiful composition.
This is a lovely capture! It's really eye appealing (but then, I'm a fan of swallowtails!) However, the flowers feel just a tad too bright - those that are the most in the sun are almost blinding, and I, personally, wouldn't mind seeing them toned down just a notch. Otherwise, the lighting is spectacular.
