And.. one more from the parameter archives that has been retooled/tweaked.

This spawned "Warmth" that currently resides in my galleries.

But.. I kind of, sort of.. always held the thought in my pea brain that I had over-processed/edited that one.

As well as, losing the side detail of the 'root-like' structure that I did like and hence, the title here.

Feel free to share your thoughts and constructive critiques.

I do not know how to do fractals, but I sure do enjoy seeing the results that members come up with. I do believe I prefer this one, even though I like the one sitting in your gallery. I think the first one was more dramatic, but this one shows marvelous intricate details in the design work. tigs=^..^=

Thanks very much, Sandi.

Appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the note of comparing the two fractals. And taking the time to do so.

Some times.. 'les's, is indeed more.

Seems like Apophysis has come a long way since I played with it. I still have the old and slow version. You made a nice contribution to the previous version of this image. Both have admirable attributes. I like the brightness and detail in this kaleidoscopic image but I like the depth and darkness of the previous one. That said I like them both.

I know nothing about creating these images. This is smooth and complex and your choice of colors enhances that. Fine work.

Danke, sirs.

Really appreciate yous taking the time to share your thoughts.

With some added thanks for taking a peek at both, on the comparative front. Muchly appreciated.

Warmth has, well, more warmth to it and I do like it...I would say this one seems 'cleaner' and more detail apparent and with the change in color scheme has a light, airy feel to it...given your title, I would add that this does have a plant-like appearance to it thus cooler and more refreshing...and since I know nothing of fractals that's all I can give you...very nice, Les.

I agree with Pat's assessment that this does have a plant-like feel to it and it is lighter and more summery. But the original is favorite of mine that I use for my DT image on a regular rotation.

My thoughts, I like "Warmth" best but they are both wonderfully done.(not over-done at all) 'Tis the season.. I see this one more as Spring and the thawing. I think they would make a nice four seasons display, with the other seasons of course.

@Lin_O: Too busy, perhaps?

@trixxie17: Thanks very much, Kathy. Really appreciate that you took the time to view both and share your thoughts. The fav is a bonus and that is it in rotation.. the proverbial icing on the cake.

@CDHale: Have to say, these comments were a lil' unexpected, but, more than welcomed. Thanks so much for taking the time to view and compare both, Christie, and sharing your thoughts and suggestions.

Well, Purmusic, do you not like intense colour, like in Warmth?

I had a wake-up call one day when I posted something I thought was bright, then saw its thumbnail next to someone else's. Mine was dull in comparison, and didn't have the life and heartiness of the other.

Since then I've cranked up the colour... you might see that change in my gallery somewhere around Mindfulness. Mindfulness was a much more subtle green while waiting to be posted... then I grabbed it and stood on the saturation slider! I haven't regretted it.

I'm still on the colour rollercoaster -- my pictures are getting bright. You and others are always welcome to call it into question, because I'm constantly asking myself if it's too strong or not.

Perhaps it depends on you and what you're trying to do, but these days I see some of my older wallpapers as faded and dull. I'm not saying that about any of yours, as they have never struck me that way -- perhaps you've had a better handle on colour all along while I'm still see-sawing. I'm not the best person to give advice.

In the case of 'Taking Root' here, I have to admit I'm not keen on the greyscale. It doesn't belong in nature. A fading leaf might be a ghostly off-white or darkening rust, or a cool colour like in the contest.

I suspect what's troubling you about Warmth is not the colour so much as the colour balance. It looks fine at first sight, but when you play with the colour balance filter, curves, levels, you start to get different effects.

I cranked up the saturation and used colour balance to strengthen the reds, but protected the greens with a layer mask. I didn't put a lot of work into it and it could probably be done better, but it should show you can keep warmth in the picture without overdoing it. I didn't know where to upload it but if you're interested, I could put it in the Rework gallery.

You go for more natural colours than I do, but that is a good thing. It doesn't mean they can't be strong.

One thing I like about Taking Root is the way the yellow 'petals' stand out from the background, resembling dandelions over their own weakening leaves. maybe you would get a similar effect if you go for creams and pale greens where you now have grayscale?

Apologies if this seems long, but you've touched on a area (colour intensity) that I've been struggling with forever.

Thanks so very much, Tootles.

You've provided a lot of fodder for me pea brain to reflect upon and to consider with respect to any future pieces/fractals/images.

Really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.. this is invaluable stuff. And I can't thank you enough.

Enjoy the rest of your day. :o)

Besides the magnificent colors you have chosen for this work of art, what really impresses me are the details in this piece that resemble the lines in a leaf, and the simplicity yet complete beauty that we do see replicated in mother nature. Favorite.

Thank you, Vicki, for taking the time to share your thoughts.

And dare I say, that your observations are not only astute on the note of the artistic aims, but, that of fractal iterations in general.

Suffice to say..

I enjoyed reading your comments. And the favourite is the proverbial icing on the cake. Muchly appreciated. :o)
