Lightning bugs are another one of the simple pleasures of summer. They silently fly about, here and there, lighting on and off. Impossible to see in the dark, except when they briefly glow. There is something magical about them, capturing the imagination as well as your eyes, ... like faeries dancing in the summer night stillness.

This is just how they look when they come out in groups. Beautiful work Lisa.

Although we don't have these...As a child we called them magical fairies!

A great piece of work...I think if I walked though a dark wood now, and seen these..it would probably freak me out...not knowing what they were!...lol

Inventive and creative as always (a prefect find/approach)!
Love this original 'Fairy Tale' creation, Lisa.

We've had quite a few of these lately, even in the house. They bring back so many childhood memories, catching them in a jar and putting it beside my bed to watch at night. Fantastic image!

Once when my now-36-year-old was a little boy we camped overnight by a local lake. Waking in the middle of the night I sat up and looked out the window over the marshy area beside us and had to wake him to experience what must have been a couple thousand of them blinking on and off. It looked like an aerial view of a city. This fun image of yours brings that delightful memory back to mind. Thank you.

They seem to be earlier this year around here anyway. This is a clever design. Nice work.

"What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset."

p.s. I found this soft jazz number today and it reminded me of your picture; "Paul Hardcastle - Fireflies"
