Canon A540 Powershot, Photofiltre...I spotted this rather odd looking fungus growing on this tree yesterday as my wife and I were perusing the local yard and garage sales. I'm not sure what it's called, but this was its natural color and appearance. Please take a closer look, all comments are welcome and appreciated. =)

Funny Randy should say it tastes like chicken 'cause there is a fungus called chicken of the woods, I think, but don't know if this is it...either way, it's funky looking alright...the photo is just a tad bright for me but otherwise super detail and closeup of that bark Larry...good work.

Thanks everybody! Yeah, it does seem a tad bright, something I tried to correct with postwork, but I didn't have much luck. Any suggestions are appreciated. =)

I played with the exposure and the recovery in PS and it took some of the glare off the yellow...what a great shot of a fungus I've never seen before. I didn't know they came in yellow!

I'm in the woods a lot and I've never seen any this bright. Maybe that's why it looks like brains. Good photo and if PJ worked on it, the results will be outstanding. Thanks for posting.
