A batture is land between a levee and a river. Typically it isn't used, but in Louisiana it is considered picturesque, and this morning the fog obscured the river in such a way that a religious person might hear the voices of the gods.

Hmmmm? Seems I voted on this long ago and never came back to comment. Glad it showed up in the TNI's. It is also going to my favorites. Love it alot! Not just a great photo presentation but also my style of useable wallpaper. I'm not the least bit spooked. ;)

So glad I got the chance to see this. Very thought provoking. A bit grainy but it has so much going for it such as composition, lighting and mood it is of little consequence. Really nice well thought capture Regmar. Kudos friend

Excellent post Regmar. It is funny how far the editing has come. Now it would get knocked for too much noise. I personally think it added to the atmosphere in this shot.
