Last summer the wife and I were driving from Carcassonne to Lavelanet when we came out of one of those typical plane-tree lined French roadways, and saw this. Because she gets motion-sickness when I drive her through the mountains, she was driving while I gawked at the scenery, so I had her stop in a field, so I could get out, set up the tripod, and shoot this. I loved the diagonal sweep of the hillside made dramatic by the furrowed lines of trees sweeping over the top of the mountain.

I saved this in favs - I just love the "layering effect" of the trees, then sort of a blue swath, then the mountains, then the sky. It is very well balanced and one of those tranquil shots one likes to just sit and stare at. Also thanks for the description - it is nice to know the details of when and where!

Very very new to this, and only have a bog standard fuji 2mb digi camera.
I thought...these mountains are muted in the background...it is quite a different shot...it is like 2-for-1...quite an earth we live on...thanks for the visit to France...I like this...Bill.
