This did jump out of your gallery, as they say. I wish I could recall more of the history of this flower and how your country and mine relate, as I know there is an interesting story. Well, I will search that trivia out, as it escapes me at the moment.
Pardon my distraction. Such strong and vibrant colours. And quite amazing detail and clarity, as mentioned above. I know this sounds simple, but, it is meant as a compliment ... nice.
p.s. Now, I remember why this flower has such an attachment for me ... here is a little bit of the history for the others on this site ...
For having given the Dutch Royal Family’s refuge in Canada during World War II and the contribution of Canadian troops in the liberation of the Netherlands ... in gratitude, the Dutch people sent 100,000 tulip bulbs to Canada and another 20,000 added by the Dutch Royal Family.
In a gesture of ongoing gratitude and friendship, the Netherlands continues to send 20,000 bulbs to Canada each year.
2005 marked the 60th anniversary and it was in March, 2004 that the Dutch Queen passed and yet, the pledge was made to continue this 'gift' between our two countries.
