John, I've the idea that you are trying to fool us to a certain extent. To me you've taken two pictures of the same spot, the one taken in the wintertime while the other one was taken in the summertime and after that you've stitched the wintry image into the one taken in the summer. I had believed you instantly (LOL) if you had edited the wintry scene with a photo-editor to a painting-like one. Now it's too natural to me. Whether I'm right or wrong (I think the title might be a confirmation on its own), I like to congratulate you with the achieved result. Splendid work, my friend. Perfectly done.

This is very clever. But I agree with corngrowth above. The "painting" is much too lifelike. Also the arrangement of boats is different in the two scenes. This was not a simple task. The perspective of the painting and its embedding in the scene are excellent.
Your pic in a pic is picturesque.
