This will be the final shot from the creek. Thanks to Rich for suggesting the dodge tool to bring out those dark details on the photos. It helped a lot. Comments/suggestions welcome.

Like this one too, Ryan.

If I may though, the area of the sky might be approached a tad differently in post processing.

Here you go, some creative food for thought: Tony Kuyper Photography - Tutorials

In particular, take a look at the 'Luminosity Masks' and 'Luminosity Painting' tutorials contained in the above link.

Note: The above is, more or less, for Photoshop, along with accompanying screenshots ... still think you can extrapolate on the information contained if need be.

Your composition of the setting is most certainly a strength of your photo here.

And needless to say, very challenging lighting conditions. On that note, not quite sure (can't recall, my apologies) what camera you have in hand. Which could segue to some tips/advice on metering, et al. Perhaps add your make and model into your accompanying narratives?

Carrying on ...

Nice mood and feel to your photo here.

And but of course, thank you for sharing this one with us. :o)

I like how you have captured the light down the center of the river and the milky look of the river is spot on well done.

Nice work Ryan, the exposure time has blurred the water just the right amount to make it look smooth and shimmery without being overdone. The light is lovely, coming from the water and filtering through the trees. Very tranquil.

Nice shot...I'm with Les on this one. The composition is perfect, with the creek disappearing into the center of the shot. I like the work with the dodging tool, I use dodge and burn all the time to selectively adjust a certain area of the shot. The little bit of sky is a bit distracting...I know its hard to leave a bright white sky hovering at the top of the image, but having the gray spot (I'm assuming over-burning in that area) attracts the eye just a little more I think. You could have cheated and clone-stamped some of the trees to cover up that area, but that all depends upon whether you mind doing that or not. I personally don't, but others don't like to "manipulate" in that way. Still, nicely done!!
