A local Paper Wasp hanging out on one of my Manzano Peppers. It was deep in the foliage and apparently settling in for the night. It was also quite docile and let me take many close-ups with a strobe, something very difficult to do when they're active. A check of some bug ID sites indicates this is probably a speciman of Polistes exclamans. And unless they're defending their nest, they really aren't much more aggressive than bees. But I still give them their space. Shot at 1X through a Laowa 100mm macro lens and lit with a Canon MR-14EX ring flash.
