I think I recognize this flower. In the summertime we have similar flowers around here. They bloom from some sort of an agave or succulent. Anyway, I'm not here to discuss the history of flowers.

The flower itself looks pretty good although the focus could be a little sharper. The background of a typical flower shot is supposed to be dark and blurred so that the image of the flower "pops" off the screen. Your background is distracting in that it's pretty well focused and takes the eye away from the flower. The horizon appears to be tilting down on the right, and you should consider changing up some settings on your camera to get rid of that white sky. I've found that the best thing to do is experiment. Keep it up. Taking flower shots is an art unto itself. I've never come close to get a really good flower photo.

You really had to get down to take this one. The brightness of the sun is distracting but I have taken many photos like this as well. You will get better as you go with the down under shots.
