Very original composition, Jess. Most would have cropped to just the pink daisy; including the out-of-focus white daisy above it is a neat touch. Very well done.

It's definitely a different approach, Jess. At first glance it didn't work for me at all, but it was so far removed from conventional composition, it had something different.
I still feel it needs more work to produce the impact that's really there.
You might try cropping the right border to half the distance to the nearest petal, which will move the subject a bit further from center. Then, up from the bottom to a point where the stem of the bug/flower is almost the same as the out of focus top flower. (The reflection at the bottom is a distraction that is causing loss of impact and concentration.
Lastly, the exposure needs darkening to recover the detail overall, so just a minor application of negative gamma or reduce the brightness. This will deepen the yellow, increase detail in the sharpest petals immediately behind the bee, surrounding your center of interest with complimentary material and no distracting influences.
Which , by the way, appears to be exactly what you had in mind with that composition, in the first place.
Great idea.

Unconventional, but good, Jess. Bummer, some good images cannot be used as wallpapers because of shape (aspect ratio). You might increase the DOF on the subject flower and throw the other more out of focus and see what results.

'Let's eat Grandma!' or, 'Let's eat, Grandma!' Punctuation saves lives...
