This was taken, over 50 years ago, on my brothers front lawn. Never did find out, whose kitten it was, but it made it to a full page in U.S.Camera,magazine. It was late in the day, and I shot it with a Rollieflex, twin lens reflex camera. The kind you had to look down, into the viewing screen, from above. It wasn't really sharp, but I entered it in their annual contest, anyway. It did pretty well, but they kept the negative, this being a scan of the original print.

Doug, this is just such a dear photo of this little unknown kitty. I can truly see why this was a runner in the contest. So glad to see that's it's getting such great reviews here as it did 50 years ago. It well deserves it. Going into my favorites and HD. The key to this shot is that leaf in front of it's face. That one peeking eye shows that innocent baby game where they think they are hiding. It makes you want to get involved and move it to see the kitten. This is a beautiful B/W with great extremes in values. The blacks are velvety soft.
