A Rainbow for Arches

I had just started into Arches National Park, Utah. The light rain had finally stopped, when I saw the rainbow. Rather than drive to specific arches, with which I was familiar, and were some distance away, I just jumped out, and shot this one. All the while, I was being bitten, on the ankles and legs, but never could concentrate on what was biting me. I later found, that desert sand fleas are very active, after a rain, and crave a warm body. I must be part Sand Flea, as I can relate to that.

Still staring open-mouthed ...

What a wonderful shot, Doug! I see this is not just one vivid rainbow, there is even a faint double. The way you have "brought it down" through its proximity to the rock pillar is an excellent touch, and the rich complementing colours of the rock and turf give it that extra special something. Definitely 10/10, and definitely into my folder of desktop backgrounds to be entranced by.

This is a beautiful shot Doug. Well, worth getting bitten for. Well, worth YOUR getting bitten so that I could enjoy this lovely picture:) I think your part sandflea part bee. You like a warm body after it rains and somebody to show your bee-hind off too, lol.

What an excellent picture Doug. The shade of green from the desert brush really compliments the red earthen color of the rocks. Great "jump out of the car capture".
Thanks for sharing.
