This is the second of three shots I managed to capture while trying to get past this rather menacing, whatever it is. It's much more dramatic in Black and White, but that doesn't show the rainbow starting to form at it's base. I don't recall precisely where it was, but I was in the North Texas panhandle, heading for Oklahoma. .... another 30 seconds, and one more shot, and I was past it without incident.

A dramatic scene with that menacing sky, but the rainbow on the horizon gives one the glimpse of hope. Wonderful capture, Doug.

Wow! Now that is some dramatic weather! I don't think I would have been sticking around there very long with that heading my way! Love the forming rainbow!

Doug, I liked "West Texas Shower", "West Texas Shower 2" and now "Shining Through". Of the three, this one is my favorite. The original black and white was surprisingly my least favorite. I didn't feel the drama you mentioned above.

I really like the way the eye is drawn to the mini-rainbow. When you see those telephone poles being dwarfed by the phenomenon, you can really feel just how enormous this thing was. It looks like a mini-tornado that must have changed its mind.

I'm not afraid of dying. I just don't want to be there when it happens.
