Both Greg (gjwahl) and Owde Bob suggested that I try cropping out the very bland sky from yesterday's post... I did and I think it looks lots better... Let me know what you think.
I'm not expressing anything other than my own humble opinion, Mary, but I think you did a great job. The boat is the star of the show, and now the environs complement it without drawing your eyes away from it. Just gorgeous -- and it's already on my desktop!

Sorry that I haven't been commenting more. Just got lazy? But I did look at most of them. And again, thanks to all of you for your comments on mine.

Sorry to all...I haven't been commenting as much as I would like to lately. I'm a 9 to 5er again (actually more like 8:15 to 7:30 these days!!) Don't worry, I still see all of your wonderful posts, if only for a second.
Hey Mary,
I do prefer this one over the other,
Now we are really looking into the image instead of having an overview and trying to figure out all the parts in the landscape, (~8
It may sound strange but I prefer the colors in this one, I think the lack of dull colors in the background draws much more attention on the warm and lovely colors in the foreground,
Beautifully done,

*You will have noticed that I haven't been commenting as much on your fine images!..This is because of the pains in my hands!..the constant use of the keyboard, makes this difficult..so, my dear friends..I can only apologise to you all in advance!*

A great suggestion they made, and good of you to follow through. It is a marked improvement. Excellent shot! I'm a sucker for pretty much anything with a boat in it...and this one really grabbed my eye!
Several of my photos are available for purchase in larger format at Shutterpoint, and some are also available in high quality framed prints at http://djholmes.imagekind.com/
First, your composition is excellent Mary ... but, you know that.
The colours are indeed very warm ... but, you know that as we do as well.
The one thing that has given me some pause in viewing your shots not dissimilar to this ... is that there are at times present, one element that seems to evoke a more visceral reaction from me ... and I am not entirely sure why.
The lone ... boat.
Anchored and separate from attachment to the shore, the land ... everything but ... that single line that dives below the waters' surface.
Yet, the setting is beautiful, tranquil ... serene.
Curious then ... any of my above drivel strike a chord?
*ponders some more*
Great lines, but ... you know that.
I do prefer this one that little bit more. Think that the sky in the other was not so much a composition breaker as it was, at least for me ... a little ... a little blown out in the upper left.
Regardless ... this is an excellent shot.
Well done and thanks for sharing this particular look through your lens. It is indeed a powerful and beautiful image to me.
