I saw these icicles at, of all places, my allergist's office in hyannis... it wasn't until I started taking pictures that the negative spaces leaped out at me...
Ah, daggers made by Glacies, the God of Snow and Ice. I really like how the sky, clouds, and light make their way through the frozen ice. Mary, this is a terrific "negative space" entry and I wish you all the best with it.
This Image GRABBED my EYE. That's Why I Stopped By.

A good capture Mary, Your allergist's office??, I hope your not allergic to icicles. Good detail and a nice looking sky. A great contest entry. Good Luck
We don’t make art to show someone what something looks like. All this requires is eyes (or a lens). Art is supposed to have meaning, emotion, power, or magic. Alan & Mario "FourThirds"
The icicles are framed nicely by the clouds in the sky & the defined edges of the negative space. I love how the lighting on the icicles makes them sparkle. Wonderful contest entry Mary & best of luck.
Honey, for negative surfaces, you've got to work for a newspaper in Washington DC and cover the Congress! Seriously, though, you are right. Space--both negative and positive--become very different elements once you start using a camera.
