Here you go again. I "see" these kinds of shots, but in the words of Third Eye, they come out mundane and not interesting at all.

Very cool contest entry. It should do very well. Very unusual shot.

The icicles are framed nicely by the clouds in the sky & the defined edges of the negative space. I love how the lighting on the icicles makes them sparkle. Wonderful contest entry Mary & best of luck.

Honey, for negative surfaces, you've got to work for a newspaper in Washington DC and cover the Congress! Seriously, though, you are right. Space--both negative and positive--become very different elements once you start using a camera.
