Why do the pictures come out square when the lens is round??

Mary this thumbnail immediately caught my eye and just had to comment before I realised it was from you! The use of people as silhouettes is so unusual in sunset shots, and what a change it makes. You have captured a moment in time with this shot, and the composition and colours are excellent, great work this one.

I was just looking through a friends favourites here on caedes when I came across this beautiful image. I dont know how I managed to miss this one, but glad Ive found it now. Makes a lovely romantic DT. And so that I can enjoy it again and again, have put it in my favourites. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful image.
