My new stone addition... I adore stones - all kinds. For many years... decades I collect stones from the most common to not so ordinary... from different parts of the world. One of my favorite stones is petrified wood, which I found in a river of Vitosha Mountain. When I put it in the water he "comes alive" and becomes a magical beautiful stone. I had an interesting experience at the opening of my stones. I have fossilized fossils which I am finding of amazing places and they are millions of years old...

You've got yourself a fine specimen of Labradorite!

The iridescence isn't caused by light reflected off the surface...it's caused by light that strikes a twinning surface within the stone, and reflects from it. Different twinning surfaces within the stone reflect different colors of light.

Great photo of a wonderful gemstone! Congratulations on your addition.

Definitely Labradorite (possibly Spectrolite). I make artisan jewelry and Labradorite is one of my favorite stones.

I am with you, sonyatod. I am a lifelong lover and collector of stones. I can easily spend blissful hours walking around a good spot, looking for stones.
