Well Paul, I like it. She looks great against the light background. A beautiful detailed image of one of my favorite creatures. I hope to see more of pictures of them next year.

I will miss seeing your dragon flies, can't wait for next years batch. This one is beautiful, as they all have been. I love the detail you capture. Your captures are excellent. Thank you for sharing all the dragon flies, I love them all.
It will be your last one? Why. I can't think of anyone that do them better. You either have a very long lens or somehow you must drug them so you can get close enough to get a photograph of the fastest thing on wings (except Hummingbirds that is).
Really, I love the image. Everything that needs to be sharply focused is. We are even treated to detail in part of the wing structure. It is truly amazing to watch them go from a hover to, it seems like 100 mph (161 kph).
Bad artists always admire each other’s work. They call it being large-minded and free from prejudice. But a truly great artist cannot conceive of life being shown, or beauty fashioned, under any conditions other than those he has selected.

I must say, this has got to be the best dragonfly image in the world, ever! It may not be the best looking dragonfly itself, but the detail you caught on it is pinsharp, especially it's, well, do I call it a face?! I absolutely love the composition of this. The colours of the background and the wood it's sitting on - spot on. I just love the clean background that compliments the colours on the insect itself. Extraordinarily fantasticly amazing!
Lovely profile shot of a female Common Darter [Sympetrum striolatum] Paul. Still the odd sighting so findividuals despite some frosts in England.
Cheers,
Steve.
