I like the pose you captured with his front paws - he does seem a bit dark but bright white snow and a dark moving object always spells trouble with metering.

This is a great picture. I am not looking so much at the metering but the POSE. I can usually adjust the metering with some post processing. But getting the right pose (from our dogs at least) is the difficult problem.
