Not much you can do with one of these but take from the card and hope for the best when it happens.

I've been having some great timing with Light Trails lately. little after 6am I cross the bridge and got set up for morning traffic. first a car, then a truck, with some type of emergency light on the top. just as he enter the bridge he turned them on! huge bonus. then a garbage truck passes by and turns the corner just before the Fassasburg Covered Bridge, blasting the trees about with light.

Enjoy!

I was guessing the higher lights were from a transport truck - really fantastic action and cool colours and lighting

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

Good going Chris...you have to excuse me cause I haven't stopped giggling over Rob's comment. Have more fun with those light trails.

Life's moments are sweet. I just want to capture all that I can of them.

Although it's unfortunate that those signs are in the shot--can't do anything about that; the county would get pissed if you removed them--it's a really terrific capture, Chris. A couple times in the past I've had both a crop duster and a boat see that I was photographing them and they changed either their lights or their path to accommodate me. Do you suppose the truck driver saw you and turned on those lights for your benefit? Never underestimate the kindness of strangers. I'm pretty good at cloning... would you mind if I tried removing those signs in a copy? Without them it might look like a scene from "Sleepy Hollow", with eerie lights chasing Ichabod Crane through the covered bridge.

be my guess Nik, personally i like the signs with the traffic trails..its says Traffic! or i would have removed them, or stood somewhere else, maybe....
..and in a shot like this? with the multi level glare of many shades of glowing color involved?...i wish you luck! however, if i do give permission? you have to post your rework regardless, good or bad, for all of us to learn from, deal? :) scout honor now :) I personally dont clone/stamp large sections.(I might stamp tiny spots) I remove sections(via a copy) and then blend the layers and shade them in for a perfect undetected match...thats just me though. first you need something thats a repeat pattern...like i said, I wish you luck (without it be noticed)...have fun! and Enjoy.

To those that want to try this type of shooting,
Little editing can be done, so you have to get it right the first time, or happy with your results afterwards. It's just a matter of long exposures vs the light sources around you...until you washout from over exposure, been there as well.

There were no street lamps, houses or building lite up to effect my exposure time, it was just getting light outside in the early morning...those are the best! the more light you have enter the frame at one time will effect the time of the exposure. It's best to have several cars, trucks ect...go by, then close the shutter! In this case the head lamps of the garbage truck lite the area up quite significantly...so I closed! shot captured. or I would have held it open a little longer

I was hoping for just a few cars and their tail lights, then I had a very powerful flashlight to paint the bridge with light, then close! to give it that glowing haunted effect. which i did do a few others later that morning. none like this! so i decided to share this one instead. its just a matter of time and experimentation, which i do lots of. Rather fun and a good way to understand light and exposures in a shot, how it effects it.
Hope that helps anyone that stumbles across this infor.

Okay, Chris, nothing but admiration of your work intended. Here's a link to my poor attempt in taking this scene back in time, approximately 200 years.
