Seem like a nice place for a break down deep in the ledge at the river walk(Grand Ledge Mi) along the Grand River, quite a sight to see! this is just a branch off the Grand River itself. little out of the place, not too used trail...The best Kind!

Found a little panted yellow rock with the word "Dance" painted on it in black. I know this is a growing tread around the country at "find a rock dot com". I wasn't able to locate whether one was placed there or not, I'm not that familiar to the site so i couldn't log it as found, I suppose with all the nature walks in search of pictures i go on, I will place it for another lucky soul to find.

Your wife has good taste, Chris, you should listen to her more often (my wife made me say that). Seriously, though, this is a beautiful place, definitely inviting, but am I seeing this correctly? Is that water yellow? I know that Taquamenon Falls in Michigans upper peninsula has a definite gold color to it, from trees dumping natural resin into the river, upstream from the falls (like a miniature Niagara Falls, for folks who have never seen it). F&S!!

its just mostly sand, Nik. that and the creek looks deeper then it is, it couldn't have been more then ankle or so deep, except for that little (i know i will spell this wrong) eddy that was shining more of a reflection from above. the main river is up stream to the right. I remember looking down there thinking...damn i hope i dont slip. its looks are a bit deceiving as how far the drop is to the water.

A very fine composition, Chris. I was initially somewhat amazed that you were able to find so much color in middle of the woods, but after reading your narrative , Nik's comment, and your additional comments, I got a plausible explanation for that.
Love the exuded atmosphere: tranquilizing/rest giving!
Very well done.

Great picture Chris. This really reminds me of the scenic excursions I've taken down the Little Sypsey River in north Alabama. A place for relaxing walks and viewing little waterfalls. A good spot for rock climbers as well. Those were the good old days.

this area? I wish I could show it all in one shot. theres much more color there then this. its where the Grand River has cut through the rock or sand stone and what appears i would guess lime stone as well, with trees literately growing out of the rocks cliff face. lots of photo opts there. the river made somewhat of a gorge. I will have to post a few more.

Marvelous capture and work - when looking at the smaller version made me think there was a creature of some kind coming out of the water over the rock, lol. Gorgeous scene and so peaceful in full
