This is the newest member of our family. His/her name is Merry. I name all my pets with Christmas related names. Merry is 4 weeks old. I will be posting weekly pictures to show Merry growing into a full fledged adult.

Merry is doing well Eleanor, it must be fascinating watching birds grow. Make sure you regularly and gently handle him / her or Merry may use it's beak on you!

Amazing feathers(?)... or... considering this bird is a juvenile, are they feathers? Great color on Merry as well. We had a mynah bird when I was a kid, a gift from a globe-trotting uncle, and it lived in a huge cage in our washroom atop the washer and dryer. Deemed great mimics, the bird couldn't talk but was aces at sounding like a running clothes washer (several times my mom went out there to see why the machine was running). I'll have to watch for your posts to see Merry's progress and check the web for the cockatoo's traits.
