I imagine myself floating above an ancient Mayan pyramidal temple, looking down directly above it's peak, where a large signal fire has been lighted. This pyramid is in the mountains west of the Yucatan plain, which explains it's height and unusual formation of circular ridges, ten in all, representing the major city states existing 4500 years ago. Unusual also by the absence of a roof comb, or grandiose wall of sculptures, instead topped by a pyre. It's night-time, indicated by the long shadows cast by the ten stone platforms, each consisting of 26 steps, totaling 260 steps from the city's plaza to the pyramid's peak, and reflecting the ancient 260-day calendar, brought to the Maya by the deity "Itzamna." What the heck am I talking about? Creation fueled by imagination and reality. Your image, Lori, is imaginative and dimensional. There's a real sense of depth here and my dialogue, fanciful but based on actual Mayan history, is a parallel to what you have created. Real art doesn't just hang on a wall and make the viewer feel warm and fuzzy — it takes them on a trip to another land or dimension and makes them work their brains along the way. This is art and another beautiful submission, Chicago.
