Saw your image here in the New Images galleries and had it bookmarked to come back to leave you some words and thoughts, Ted.
Right.. so..
Composition is good good.
And I do like the DOF you employed. That element alone lends itself well to the feeling of having come across and peeking in on this slice of paradise.
Caveats?
Here's the picture worth the next thousand words (hope you don't mind):
Adjustments.. Shadow/Highlights, with a B & W conversion in a layer on top with the Blending Mode set to Luminosity.
On my monitor the colour contrasts were not as pronounced due to.. I am guessing.. the challenging lighting conditions.
(If I may be bold here, and for future reference.. and in case you were unawares.. have a look/read of this discussion thread: "Video Tutorial: How to Use your Camera's Histogram". Armed with this information from your camera.. you can make in-camera adjustments such as and for example; Exposure Compensation.)
So.. relatively easily remedied in post processing, as your image quality and photographic data are there.
The B & W conversion layer.. allowed me to play around with the colours some and really bring out the reds and greens.
Crop.. changed the aspect ratio a tad. More 'wide screen' now and quite possibly.. just my personal preference.
The crop for me, although subtle.. 'put me there', more so. Slightly opening up the upper left-hand side more and into the scene/setting itself.
With.. a counter-clock rotation of a few degrees, if that.
Caught my eye in and amongst the new images.. so.. mission accomplished. As it is a very eye-catching scene, underscored by how you composed your photo.
And echoing some of the words and sentiments expressed above.. very tranquil and with a few changes (being bold once again).. a very nice desktop.
Excuse my 'novel' above.. take it as a sincere compliment. And but of course, thanks for sharing this one with us. :o)
