Oh right......It is the Old Mckendree Church graveyard located in Jackson Missouri. The church is built of logs. It is now protected by a steel structure and that really takes away that old church look.
Well, we need Colocolor in here to tell you what the technical aspects are of capturing a dark background behind a light foreground...all I can say is that I can see that the field in front of these most interesting gravestones is over exposed and I know that PS and other software has a way of fixing these things, and I'm not sure what or if you use anything at all, but trying to take a shot as well as you can in the field always helps to further enhance the final presentment. But then I see from your profile that you are a watercolor painter, and maybe this is what you intended to bring to us. Not sure. If that is the case, then it is quite the study in contrasts, and if I were going to haunt a place, I wouldn't want to be buried in so bright a field..nobody would see my ghost for the brilliance of it..lol...all in all a controversial and interesting pic that has had me pondering it for quite some time now :)PJ
Wow, this photo is stunning. There is perfect balance in this shot. The tombstones are lined up straight, the tree line above is perfect, as is the ground plane below. The colors blend in very well.
Well done indeed!
Michael.
ps- yep, I like pictures of graveyards for some odd reason.
