This is just one of many macro shots to come from my recent trip to Cameron Highlands in Malaysia. There were so many beautiful flora there that I just went crazy with the camera. I took a picture of this tiny potted cactus at a cactus nursery. Suggestions on improvement would be lovely!

Sue-Ling, If you weren't using a tripod, using one would allow you stop down the aperature and get greater depth of field (which is particularly tricky in Macro work). Good comosition overall.

Hey Sue, dear,
I like the composition, as if I'm an ant, trying to reach the top of this giant, (~8
One remark, you will probably not be able to fix this, but, a problem that occurs a lot in macro-photography is limited DOF (Depth Of Field), which means there is only a very small part in focus, an it shows here,
Otherwise, nicely done,

Thanks for sharing

Hi Sue, I have to say I don't mind the shallow depth of field. If everything were in focus I think it could actually be less unusual. But I would probably have tried a few shots with different aperture values, starting at around 13 and stopping back to 22 or whatever your maximum is, to see how it would look. I do think this is a good shot though - the light is good, I like the way it illuminates the spines, and the backrground is nicely done too.

Thanks to all my friends for the wonderful images I get to look at and learn from on Caedes every day. I always have something to say about them, but don't always have the time to record it. Please forgive me if I can't comment on all of your uploads.

I too would have liked it be focused a little better. I find it distracting. Overall concept is excellent and angle is great. Practice, practice, practice.

Nice picture you have there! I like the detail of the cactus and how the thorn's at the top appear to be glowing. Keep up the nice work!
