While showing my friends the Calendar garden today, I finally was able to capture this monarch on one of the many cone flowers.

I'm not seeing many butterflies at all so far, and wonder if all those heavy rains, could have affected them.

I'm not seeing as many bumble bees either??

It was so hot out there today, but the girls did enjoy the gardens, and we had a good visit.

Canon t3i, and canon ef70-200mm f/4L with the kenko DGX 1x4 converter was used, hand held.

Thanks in advance for commenting.

Clarity is perfect Tigz. You have the camera, lens and converter singing for you. Very good.

Ooooo! This is beautiful. The butterfly is gorgeous and so is the foofy. The light spots just above the foofy, and slightly left, have a butterfly shape. Pretty cool.

Excellent shot. I have seen the bees, but the butterflies are scarce. I can't figure out why either.

A beautiful capture, Sandi & I love the lighting. I'm not seeing many butterflies or bees either ... could very well be the heat & humidity. Wonderful post.

Nicely captured with the monarch on the flower. Great colours and good clarity on the butterfly.

Hi, Sandi...

I keep hearing that the background on a flower shot should be a dark blur so that the flower "pops". Obviously the butterfly was too conceited to take a little stage direction. Damn butterfly actors. Anyway, the shot has two problems that make it less than perfect. Because of the bright background, the butterfly antenna gets lost. Secondly, and far more damning is the black spot on the petal on the far right. I know I "let into you somethin' fierce" (from Pollyanna) about the white spot on the earlier shot and that this is an overcompensation on your part, but to me the speck is unforgivable. :-)
