I appreciate the comments, and want to let you know that I'm taking an overnight road trip to southern Indiana, to see Marty Stuart perform, but will have the laptop, with me. I'll be leaving friday morning, and will back saturday.

How perfect...it almost seems as if he were superimposed. I love the white in the back ground. looks like a bright light toward which the cardinal is facing.

Sandi - It looks like he stuck his beak in the snow before flitting to the lilac branch. The blurred winter-color background is perfect for the brilliant red of this male cardinal. It appears that the lighting is reflected off the snow - very effective. Thad
