I know I told you I was not going to post anymore from the studio shoot, but I do have two b&W's I made from that shooting, so I hope you don't mind, and their special effect images.

Lyn is looking for more challenge entries, so this is my entry for this week.

I appreciate your comments, thank you.

I am sure this person must be delighted with this shot Sandi.
It looks very professional and is another very welcome addition to the BWC :)

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

It's a nice shot, Sandi. You could crop 2\3rds of that empty space above her head. When it's such an open space it demands too much attention. Your eyes automatically move up and down instead of focusing on the face and subjects eyes.

Doug has an excellent pointer regarding the space. I always learn so much from him. Super shot and special effect, Sandi.

I think she could handle herself in a knife fight Tigz.
A good one for the b/w challenge. I too learn much from Doug.

Sandi,
I suppose that Dough's (snapshooter87) comment is intended as a well meant advice. If so, I like to add that it's up to the photographer to decide whether this advice is followed up or not. Personally, I wouldn't change this portrait because, to my taste, cropping it won't change its essence.

Be careful to act in analogy what has happened many times in the past to the 'rule of thirds'. The 'rule of thirds' was intended as an advice to improve a composition, but in practice it has become a doctrine that hampers (in certain situations) the artistic freedom of the photographer. Therefore, please draw your own plan.

Either way, your portrait is an asset to the B & W Challenge gallery. Very well done, my friend

I think Mr. C.'s comment is very well said. I use the rule of thirds when it fits or improves and toss it aside when it doesn't - that's why they call us "photographic artists" after all! LOL It's excellent!

Its another fine Image Sandi. Perhaps its partly the light coming from the upper left that Doug is referring to. It does draw the eye but it is integral part of the photo.
