Yesterday I ventured to my favorite garden, (Defries Garden/The Calendar garden. I dealt with the heat to try to get shots of the hummingbirds, and I did manage a few, so for me even though I was wilting away from the heat, I think my effort paid off. My first hummer shots of the year.

Shooting info: Nikon D500 with the Nikkor 80-400mm lens. f/5.6 exp. time 1/3200 sec. ISO 1600 focal distance 400mm. Spot metering.

I appreciate your comments, thank you.

You really stopped him mid flight Tigz.
Bokeh is great and it really stands out.
Wonderful capture. Congrats on capturing this hummer.

Excellent capture Sandi - great details on the hummer and what looks to be bee balm.

Fascinating little guys, I finally saw my first one, in the feather you might say, last summer, hovering over the orange cone shaped flowers in the thick vines covering the south side of my brick home. Excellent capture, Sandi.

I know how hard it is to get a good picture of these little guys and this is a good capture. I also like seeing the camera information.

Sandi, I'm curious whether your Nikon Nikkor 80-400 lens has a vibration reduction feature or not. If not, I'm somewhat amazed about this very good result, in particular the sharpness of this wonderful 'action shot'. The brief exposure time may have been helpful to that, but, on the other hand, the FL of 400mm makes that any trembling e.g. by hands causes a to a certain extent a blurred image.
Perfectly done however. Kudos, 👍

Beautiful and well taken shot showing details well. As Cornelius said a steady hand is required with that 400mm
