I occasionally see these guys on our Missouri River sandbars, beautiful birds with unique markings, and a nice comparison to the terns out there and a contrast with the gulls, our ^flying pigs^. I do like your lighting control and focus, and your composition is excellent, placing the bird off-center, facing toward the majority of open space in the photo. The bird appearing in between those two grasses also gives it scale. All in all, Sandi, two thumbs up. I would give you more thumbs but that would make me a mutant.
