While I have virtually no talent when it comes to the art of photographing flowers, I've submitted enough horrific flower shots to be able to tell you what my Caedes friends have told me. So here goes.
For optimum flower shots, the flower must be almost beyond clearly focused. People use terms like sharp, crisp, well focused and clear. Secondly the background should be dark and blurred so that the flower "pops".
The full sized photo is pretty small, but I think the flower is in focus. You have a mixed background of dark and overexposed light which doesn't help. If I saw this in the voting booth, I'd probably give it a 3. That's not great, but it's better than some.
I agree that a dark background would be better, but none the less this background gives the feeling of natural beauty, just a simple photo of pretty flowers in a garden! The flowers are so very beautfiul, to me they look like they are made out of tissues!! All in all a sweet photo, thanks for sharing :)
