It took ages to get a shot of this Egret, he stayed in the shadows feeding along the edge of the lake. Then he stepped into sunlight to pluck something tasty out of the water… Click, thank you Mr Egret you are a handsome fellow.
I love how you captured it right in the middle of the light. Surrounded by the darkness really makes it stand out. I also like that it's off center to the left for my icons on the right. ;) Love the ripples and reflection.

I hold it true that thoughts are things; They're endowed with bodies, breath and wings:
And that we send them forth to fill the world with good results, or ill.
That which we call our secret thought speeds forth to earth's remotest spot, leaving it's blessings or it's woes like tracks behind it as it goes.
We build our future, thought by thought for good or for ill, yet know it not.
Yet so the universe was wrought .
Thought is another name for fate.
Choose then thy destiny and wait, for Love brings Love and Hate brings Hate. - Henry Van Dyke.
First 10/F without a doubt. All are correct - your patience paid off really big on this one. I don't believe that anyone could have set up a capture like this if they had 200 hours and well trained egrets (is there such a thing??). I have this unexplainable thing about long necked birds (egrets, swans & cranes), but even if i didn't, I would find this to be a flawess shot. The lighting is incredibly adds to the magic of the shot. The water looks wonderful and the reflection is great. Also, the egrets wispy tail feathers look so lovely in this shot. Thanks for sharing.
"all we need is just a little patience..." and it would make a day worthwhile! this egret is a very cute animal, heh.. one thing i like the most is the reflection on the water, beautiful! and to mention the details and the quality which can be seen just by looking at the feathers of egret's tail. and the contrast between him and the background..he looks like an angel to me :)
aww..i like it all :)
A handsome picture of a lovely creature. The reflection caught my eye right off. You were right by waiting for the egret to move in to the sun light, it gave a good effect.

WOW... great photo! I simply adore egrets and herons, beautiful birds! ...but I can never seam to get close enoguh to them to make a good shot. Way to go man!
Fantastic photo! The reflection is amazing. I certainly am not an expert, but the only recommendation I could make would be to either center the shot a bit more in the vertical direction, or crop off part of the lower portion of the image, to center the heron and its reflection a bit more. Aside from that small recommendation, I love the photo, and have added it to my favorites.
I see this image has been around for awhile - I'm glad I found it :) I have a fondest for Egrets. Love the clear crispness of this image. That refection is wonderful and the pools around his legs. I like this ALOT!
