I have hesitated to post this because people might think the colour is not real. I only use natural light, sometimes I use a foil pie plate to reflect some extra light in but this one is the way nature intended. It’s very gloomy in this area. I didn’t know the mosquito was there until I saw him on screen. When I get these mushroom shots I usually manage to pick up a couple of leaches. They don’t bother me greatly they drop of and go away when they finish feeding.

I am getting an impressive collection of Australian mushrooms. Being a purple person, I love the color... I have seen some marvelous fungus in my wandering in the woods but nothing like this... Wish they would grow here.

Like Morwyn, I'm a big fan of purple...when I first saw the thumbnail I thought this was a flower then I noticed the title...beautiful Robert...wish we had that kind here...I don't relish the idea of leeches but a great shot and thanks for sharing.:Pat.

Oh that is so gorgeous! That colour is just fantastic for a mushroom to wear! You will need to get a mushroom reference book soon eh?? we would all love to know what they are called I'm sure...as for the leeches..why not wear tall fishing type boots...you dont need to give them lunch!!!

Lovely, sharp detail and just the right DOF with this shot. The mushroom looks weird enough, nothing close to that purple around here, but the greens in the moss are just the same I'm used to seeing.

I can't believe it! I actually like how this mushroom! The colors are well, unexpected for a mushroom to me as I've only seen white - brown colored ones, very clear shot and the grasses make for great backgrounds for the mushroom, nice shot!
