I took this at Trial Bay on the New South Wales coast. The bay is named after the sailing brig Trial, which capsized and sank here in 1816. The survivors tried to walk to Newcastle a distance of 320 kilometres but they were never seen again.

Wow, wonderful shot! The clarity and composition are great and I just love that small bird on the right. The whole scenery is amazing and very well captured. Nice story behind the picture too... Good work and thanks for sharing it!

This has a glow to it that is soothing to the mind and the eye. The inclusion of the seagull is nice also. Quite a stroy. You said Newcastle...that's where Dunstickin lives. Same town? Why anyone would try to walk that far is beyond me. Beautiful composition.

Really beautiful, hard to imagine that those survivors had to walk so far and then just disappeared, this is such a serene place and you've captured it very well !!

Amazing shot. The windblown sand and the little seagull really did it for me, made me smile hard. I think this is so paradisal and mysterious and your story about the survivors from the ship add to that impression.

Fabulous composition Robert for all the reasons already mentioned above...I think the lovely glow this has is what really makes it so enchanting...that and the intriguing history as if those survivors just walked off into the sunset...a great place to get lost and a great job on this.:Pat.

Thank you everyone. I should have mentioned in the intro that there were no roads or towns between Trial Bay and Newcastle in 1816, so those survivors had a huge task ahead of them to reach civilisation. They had to blaze their own way over some very rugged country.

Well executed presentation. This is a beautiful scene, and the addition of the seagull adds abit of extra interest. Nicely shown expanse of sand leading to the calm sea. I appreciate your narration. Quite an interesting, thought provoking tale. We're all wondering about those poor folks left out there in the wilds. Thanks Robert, for this interesting view AND the story :^>
