An Australasian Grebe in his breeding colours. Full grown they go about 25 centimetres long. Minutes after hatching they take to the water never to leave it again until it’s their turn to nest.

this is really incredible. the water is gorgeous. it looks like you've painted it. the detail on the little grebe is amazing. the colors on both duck and bird are simply beautiful. fantastic submission.

What an absolutely remarkable image! I'm not sure what you did to accomplish such a beautiful shot, but I wish I did. This is great photography. The clarity in the birds feathers, wet and dry, in the details of his face and the color of the water with the crisp reflection of the bird is wonderful.

This is an amazing capture Robert. Even eclipsing your flying Egret, which is going some!
The amount of detail and rich colours makes this a bit special. Straight onto the ol' desktop with this one. Very similar to our Little Grebe or 'Dabchick' as it's known. I'll bet the young are stripey too?!

Robert, a most elegant capture. This Grebe is magnificent. The details are very well shown. The wet feathers of lovely colours and the way they are reflected in the water is beyond plain beauty! Gorgeous beak and orange eye - and that red patch is stunning. He's looking splendid on the rippling green background. You amaze me with these wonderful nature shots. This is one of the BEST! Phenomenal. I love this. Wonder if the crop is maybe too tight on the top but then i suppose it would take away from the beautiful reflection on the bottom of the photo. Amazing shot. really stands out from all of the others. Thanks for sharing.
