At about 3 centimetres this is a huge Mud Wasp. Luckily they aren’t savage unless they catch you messing with their nest, then watch out. I found this one near the Cockfighter Creek.
*You will have noticed that I haven't been commenting as much on your fine images!..This is because of the pains in my hands!..the constant use of the keyboard, makes this difficult..so, my dear friends..I can only apologise to you all in advance!*

Hi,my name is Rob..ok, so I'm not the greatest at replies and comments. Sorry. For anyone needing to contact me, my email is back up in my profile. >> my cluttered mess of a gallery
Thank you everyone. Actually they aren’t aggressive and if you do disturb their nest they will usually just buzz you. Then the sight of that thing a few inches from your face gets you moving :-)
I'm very far behind in my comments due to some recent family issues so please forgive this generic comment. I have viewed this image and found it to be very good. I didn't want to pass it by with out mentioning it's beauty. Thank you for sharing it with us. You have created a very beautiful image and I envy your talent. I hope to view more of your work and give a more personal comment in the near future. Your images are awsome. Very sharp macro.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

Incredible macro Robert! The detail is so bold and the colors are so vivid. You have high quality and clarity as well. When viewing this full screen, the viewer really has a chance to see what a mud wasp looks like close-up. I am glad it is on my screen and not on me!!
Thanks for sharing this with me ;=)
Amazing shot.
