I wanted to get the full name of this in the title - figuring anything with that long a name must be spectacular. It was! I knew as I approached the water it must be something good because even at 7:30am there were 5 or 6 photographers with tripods lined up in front of the pool. I found a spot and this is what I saw - a lotus the size of a small dog!

A flower that big must be something to see! It is highlighted beautifully by the sunshine. Outstanding color and detail as well. Excellent shot, Kathy.

They are not so common here also Kathy as they are tropical flowers. Very nice capture here with beautiful lighting and shadows.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

You and your camera handled the lighting conditions very well.

Good good clarity and focus.. and the composition is strong. Colours are natural and vibrant.

Well done to you, Kathy.

Shame on you for jumping the queue and not waiting in line to take your turn to shoot the blooms.
Nice lighting and shadows in this capture, Kathy. Lovely colours in the flower.
