This is one of my favorite wildflowers and now it is being cultivated for use as a perennial in home gardens. Here's some info on it from wikipedia : "Baptisia australis, commonly known as blue wild indigo or blue false indigo, is a flowering plant in the family Fabaceae (legumes). It is native to much of central and eastern North America and is particularly common in the Midwest, but it has also been introduced well beyond its natural range. Naturally it can be found growing wild at the borders of woods, along streams or in open meadows." It resembles sweet peas as it is from the same family.

Kathy, it's known in my country with the same name (False Indigo).
It resembles, to a certain extent, the blue Lupine flowers.
Perfectly taken shot!

We planted one in our yard, a location it seems to enjoy - it grows substantially large. In the fall the seed pods have shells and can be noisy (and later messy). You captured the blooms very nicely with this image.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

They look so beautiful in the wild and in your photo Kathy.
I'm glad it is being cultivated in gardens.

Very nice shot of the wild indigo Kathy. The color is enhanced by all the green leaves.
