This is a late fall garden plant usually. It doesn't do well in hot weather so it's recommended it be put out when night time temps are around 50F. Our are still warmer than that but there it was last week. This is not edible kale as it is bitter but merely decorative among the mums in a fall garden.

Kathy, when I translate the Dutch name for it literal, it says 'ornamental kale or cabbage'. Not only decorative among mums, but other flowers as well.
Think however that the rabbits visiting my garden, don't know that this kale isn't edible, 😜 !

Looks great to put in a salad. About 5 years ago, we were part of a community garden, and one time someone gave us some "Wild lettuce" we went home, made a salad and after a few moments, looked at each other and started laughing!! This only lasted a moment, but we looked online, and it says wild lettuce has mild opiate like quality to it. It was funny how it hit us then we were back to normal. Sorry for the ramble, this just reminded me of that time.
