Meet Cricket - one of the two Schnauzers we had when I was a teenager. We adopted her in 1968 - she was rescued from a puppy mill in Missouri and we saw her at Lambs Farm which is a work place for mentally challenged adults who also live on the farm. They work in the bakery, the petting zoo, gift shop, cafe and pet shop. Cricket was the runt of her litter - she never weighed more than 6 pounds which is very small for a schnauzer. She got her name because as a puppy she would hop around like a cricket. The lady who groomed her had a friend who did pet paintings and she was crazy about Cricket so she asked if she could paint her portrait. When my mom broke up her household last year I could not bare to see this painting go into the estate sale so she now hangs in my bedroom. I'm thinking of this for my entry in the contest.

John (Casechaser) has started a thread called Favorites, where we can add photo's that we see and really like. I added this one to that thread. You can view the thread here.
That should tell you how much I like this photo and story Kathy.
Where was the puppy mill in Missouri located?
Great contest entry should you choose it.

A very nice portrait of Cricket. The painter got that curious look perfectly Kathy.

Kathy, what a story, and the right decision not to let this 'portrait' into the estate sale.
Would be a perfect entry for the 'Something in the Home' contest.
If you would decide so, I wish you the Best of Luck with it!

This is very special. The story is so very touching and I must say the painting is exceptional, the emotion that one senses upon viewing is as if you are looking into the heart and mind of Cricket. Perfect entry for the contest.
