Beautiful Haystack Rock !

This is Haystack Rockwith surrounding other rocks.. at Cannon Beach, Or. It is one of the most photographed images in the world. I took this view from the North side of it, from Ecola State Park. Being its a monolyth..it draws many crowds. When the tide is low there are wonderful tidepools at the base of Haystack. Its so much fun to see the seastars, the sea urchins, shells, small fish and little crab. And on the rock itself there are usually many seagulls, and at times when the tide is high the seals are swimming around too. It was such a perfect day! I sat at the picnic table and just "breathed in" the salty sea air..and forgot all about anything else...

Forget Pierre, I am coming over first!
What a scenery, I am going to throw away my camera now, I can't compete with this!
Or better, I will send you my camera, so you can post this image with a resolution 3500x2300 pixels and I will have it as a poster above my bed, what do you say?
I am with Pierre to give you a 10 for this posting altough, with the new voting system, you may end up with a score of 2.2

Thanks for posting

Makes me miss the ocean and I've only seen the east coast. You did a fine job in portraying the best of the west coast. Looks like we may have a meeting of a caedes group out there some day!

I can get lost in this photo! The Pacific coast is very dramatic. I visit whenever I can. Your image is awesome, it has a serene, oil-painting-like quality to it that makes it difficult for me to take my eyes off it!! I'm very particular with my "10's", and this is definately a "10".

One of the hardest things for me to paint are rocks such as these..Silhouettes are fine, but to get the texture of the rock is beyond meeeeeeeeee.LOL..maybe someday eh?!

Once in a while I come across an image that stops me in my tracks. You just did it to me. From the framing with the trees to the coastline fading into the haze, it’s all just gorgeous. That place is going on my must visit one day list.

Hi Verena, my oh my, I am totally speechless! This moves my soul!!! I can only imagine what a scene like this would do for one's whole being, if it were realistically experienced! I have seen the west coast, but never have I seen such total beauty as captured here. One might write a dissertation on this image! Of course it will be a permanent guest in my favs! Sincerely, Marilyn (I will be voting a 10)!

Well, lucky me ... and this is just the first image of yours I have viewed, thus far.

I read through the preceding comments and I have this to say ...

First, I am quite sure I could make myself fit into a suitcase ... so, I can come with Paul and Pierre, no added cost to the airfare. Annnd ... this is really a beautiful scene. Very powerful, too. At first glance, it did 'something' to me.

For some reason, seascapes, and very very good ones, evoke a 'longing' in me. Hope that makes sense. There is power in the surf, all the elements are there. Sky, wind, water ... light. So, I think I will get pleasantly lost in my thoughts as I let this one take me away ...

... thank you for sharing. Great work.

I can certainly see why the c-index is 98 on this photo. Oh, you people who live in Oregon-disgusting-all those photo opps. This a photo I can sit in front of and after a few moments, you just want to sigh and thank God for being alive. I love the way you caught the suns gentle plays of light across this peaceful scene. Oh my, do I see a place to sit down on the lower right? Plop me down on it with arms folded and legs stretched out and just leave me there.

Goooooooooooooooooood job. Pat

As Loganjw suggested a few YEARS ago, Haystack rock, in this image, is the same one as the goonies image!

I was reminded of that also and did a bit of searching. Then noticed that you posted the word Goonies already! Not the first to notice but first to search and prove the claim!
