The Columbia River Gorge in all its mightiness. This is where the Oregon Trail Pioneers traveled by long wagon trains and under all sorts of hardships. It has now become a major thing for visitors to see. Especially Vista House that rises high above the river. The day I took this shot, it was filled with sunshine and clouds...but a mist was beginning its trek westward. We often get some blustering wind thru this "wind funnel" and also a bit of snow and cold weather. And when the fronts come in from the Pacific, we are in for trouble! But on a day like this, it was beautiful and peaceful. Please feel free to comment.

What a breath-taker! Congratulations Verena. What a picturesque panorama. Your photos make my envy of the beautiful place you live in. I wonder what is the tiny building on the top of the cliff? Is it (Vista House I reckon) the little house of yours?

This is one of my favorite places. I used to live in The Dalles when I was growing up. My great-grandparents lived in Hood River, so we'd visit out this way every once in a while. Nice photo.
