On my "Sunday drive" today we were at the Columbia River Gorge and this is Vista House at Crown Point, Or.This is a close up view of the building on my last photo...and. this built as a memorial to the Oregon Pioneers and now it is also a gift shop of Oregon Souvenirs,It's located on a 733 foot cliff and is 44' around and 55' high. It was completed in 1918 and is an observatory where one can view far to the East and West down the Columbia River and one of the most spectacular vistas in the world. Most of the inside of this building is made of Tokeen Alaskan Marble and Kasota Limestone. It's one of the most photographed sites in the world. I love going up here especially when the sky is this pretty, its a huge Nat'l Forest and about 1 1/2 hrs from my home, ...thank you so much for stopping in.

Hey Verena

The last time I was here they were still restoring the Vista House. Are they done yet? I love going there and you've done a great job capturing it for everyone to see.

Wow, verena, I do like the capture of the small forest in the center right of the composition. The detail and cripsness is superb. The background is spoiled for me by something not under your control and that is all those electrical or signal towers in the far distance. But one can see that it is a beautiful spot. Thks for sharing.

Oh noo..this cannot be real too.. this is sooooo unfair! It looks like a scene out of a fairytale book. What a view! And the almost hazy background puts a kinda of emphasise on the forground and the building and lookout point. It is just to good to be true... well done, V

Again a very good image. You can even see as far as Bonneville Dam. What mm lens were you using? Crown Point must be at least 17 miles from Bonneville Dam and the compression of your telephoto lens brings them into the same image, now that's one long lens. Seeing as how they are that far apart the air must have been incredibly clear.
