Storm Damage to Oregon Trees

Here is another shot of the damage caused by the hurricane force winds we had at the Oregon Coast this winter. These trees were "snapped" like little twigs ! Thousands of them gone now. Sorry for the white sky, but that's exactly the colour it was on the day we went. I had not seen this damage until now because the mountains had so much snow and ice for so long. It's obviously not a desktop photo, but I hope you don't mind that I shared this with you.

That must have been some storm to do that, unusual shot to say the least.

No trees were killed in the sending of this message. However, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. COME ON YOU GREENS, UP THE ARGYLE.....

Amazing shot. It does remind me so much of Mt. St. Helens, like ^ Jerry commented on above. I did not see the sky, for your foreground was too astonishing to move my eyes up to it. This is one of those photos which must be seen at full size.

I think his great reportage Verena and entirely worthy of posting. Such events need sharing globally and Thanks. The trees have been devastated of course but probably in our lifetimes the new will grow through, first using the old as their shelter and then as their nourishment until they find the light and stand on their own. Why are you sorry about that sky? I love skies like that, with a lot of clouds. this is a great shot of the damage to the trees. The picture is really good with the greens of the trees, and the sky. Very nice, Verena.

Very glad you did post this Verena. This an amazing picture. What a storm that must have been to cause this damage. Thank you for posting.

A great shot of the magnitude of the wind that destroyed all the trees. You captured it just great. Another good one Verena.

Looks like some beaver went nuts! Just like the other photo, that had to be some incredible force. Glad you were not harmed in it.

That must be hard for the region, to loose so many trees.
I think, the trees were 40-60 years old. They had survived such a long time and many storms. And now the storm was to heavy...
